Are You Gluten Intolerant?

Gluten intolerance is much more common than many of us really know. In fact, you might have an intolerance or sensitivity yourself and you probably don’t even know it. It is typically characterized by having adverse reactions to the protein and gluten found in wheat. Many people develop coeliac disease, which is one of the most severe forms of intolerance to gluten.

Here are some of the main symptoms and signs of being gluten intolerant.

1. Consistent bloating.

When your belly feels swollen and full of gas after eating, it might be due to being gluten intolerant. However, there could be other underlying causes, but this is a very common symptom associated with it.

Most people with digestive issues are more prone to anxiety and depression and it is a very common with most people who have coeliac disease.

8. Sudden weight loss.

An unexpected change in weight is cause for concern no matter what and could stem from various reasons. However, it is a very common side effect of undiagnosed coeliac disease due to lack of proper nutrient absorption. 

9. Iron-deficiency.

Iron-deficiency (anemia) is quite common in the world of nutrient deficiency. Signs include: fatigue, low blood volume, dizziness, shortness of breath, pale skin, weakness, and headaches.

10. Autoimmune Disease.

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease that makes your immune system attack your digestive tract after consuming gluten. This disease can make a person more prone to other autoimmune disorders that affect the thyroid, causing more emotional and depressive problems.

11. Difficulties thinking clearly.

Ever experience a case of “brain fog”? People typically describe it as having difficulties thinking, feeling cloudy, mental fatigue, or being forgetful. This is a very common symptom of gluten intolerance.
